She failed. Badly.
By 7:13 in the morning she was already wearing yesterday’s eyeliner, smoking by the window, and thinking about someone she absolutely should have forgotten years ago.
Outside, the city prepared for another perfectly reasonable day.
Inside, she lit another cigarette and called it a fresh start.
